The Last Poets
The Last Poets were a group of African American poets and musicians who emerged at the height of the Black Power Movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Their work reflects its politically charged content, the use of African rhythms and instruments, and its uncompromising critique of racism and social injustice. The Last Poets was hugely influential in the hip-hop music and poetry lexicon, and their work continues to inspire a new generation of activists.
The Last Poets booklet, festival and invitation have been prepared within the scope of this project.
